Behavioral Lab

behavioral labBehavioral labs are used to measure behavioral responses resulting from language tasks.

The Language and Cognition research group in Leiden provides several locations both in the Department of Humanities and in the Department of Social Sciences to carry out such measurements. We can collect button-press (using a button box) as well as verbal responses (using a microphone connected to a voice-key trigger). E-prime is used to control the set-up and data collection of responses with millisecond precision. Stimuli are presented visually on a screen or auditorily by head phones. All sorts of paradigms including lexical decision, (masked) priming, and picture-word interference can be conducted. Set-ups are located in noise attenuated rooms (booths). Experimenters have visual contact with the participant and can control the functioning of the set-up and data collection well.
